At the start of the year Brighter Sound launched ‘Change Or Be Changed’, their first ever young composers commission. After a nation-wide call out they finally selected Benjamin Finney and Michael-Jon (MJ) Mizra as their two composers. The pair worked under mentors and professional composers Ben Cottrell and Sara Lowes, to compose new work in response to the changing times of the music industry.
The compositions were then performed as part of BBC Music Day in Manchester.
We were invited along to talk to everyone involved in the project and hear about their music, processes, and just what this commission means to them.
